4 Android smartphones, 3 Windows 10 Mobile at Acer

Smartphones have not been forgotten by Acer during its conference this morning at the IFA: the manufacturer has announced the release of four new smartphones running Android 5.1, and two others running Windows 10.

Liquid Z630 and Z530, first, two models are powered by a 5.5 inch SoC MediaTek MT6735 whose hearts 4 can run up to 1.3 GHz. They have the same sensors (8 MP front and rear), an identical connectivity (LTE Cat 4, Wi-Fi 802.11n, Bluetooth 4.0) and operate both under Android 5.1.

If these two smartphones are distinguished by their size (156.3 x 77.5 x 8.9 mm for the Z630, against 144 x 70.3 x 8.9 mm for the smaller Z530), it is mainly the amount RAM and storage capacity between them.

The Z630 embarks indeed 2GB RAM, against 1 or 2 GB for the Z530. Similarly, the first has 16GB outset, while it is optional for the second (8 GB standard).

If Acer gives the battery capacity of the Z630 (4000 mAh), it remains discreet on that of the Z530, which can legitimately think that it will be more modest.

The manufacturer also offers Liquid Z530S Z630S and possessed of a eight-core processor, 3GB of RAM and 32GB of flash memory.

The Acer Liquid Z630 and Z530 will be available respectively in late September and late October, from 199 euros and 129 euros.

Z330/M330 et Z320/M320: Android or Windows 10, the choice

In addition to these two smartphones running Android exclusively, Acer offers two references available in the Google OS, but also under that of Microsoft.

All are in the format 4.5 inches (FWVGA screen), with identical dimensions (136 x 66.5 x 9.6 mm). The amounts of RAM (1 GB) and flash memory (8 GB) are also the same. However, the party is different APN (5 + 2 MP on Z320 and M320, two sensors 5 MP on Z330 / M330), as connectivity: Wi-Fi 802.11n and Bluetooth 4.0 EDR are common, but when x330 have an LTE Cat4 module, x320 are limited to 3G.

Obvious consequence, embedded SoC also differ: the Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 officiates in the Z330 and M330, while it is the MSM 8209 (still at Qualcomm) acting within Z320 and M320.

The Acer Liquid Z330 and M330 will be on the market in early October for the first and early December for the second, from 99 euros.

Jade Primo, the first "PC Phone"

Acer also unveiled a new addition to its range Jade, the more upscale: Primo. Acer has remained fairly quiet on the data sheet, but we nevertheless gleaned some information: the presence of a Super AMOLED screen of 5.5 inches, a Snapdragon 808 SoC, while the photo part is provided by MP sensor 21 on one side of the apparatus, and 8 MP to another.

Acer has however been more forthcoming about the main interest of its smartphone, which can display Windows 10 on his screen, that is, the desktop version of the Microsoft OS, not the mobile version. For this, Acer uses the possibilities of the Continuum of Microsoft technology.

Without revealing the price or the availability date of this product, Acer has however clear that he intended to sell around that Jade Primo accessories that will use a PC: keyboard, mouse and docking station, which will connect the smartphone a screen.
